Vikings Luxury Buffet at SM Marikina

Renting a place for more than three years near SM Marikina, my son and I have enjoyed the birthday promo at Vikings Luxury Buffet. It is a yearly feast of Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and Filipino food. Our favorite is the mouth-watering array of freshly made sushi, maki, and sashimi.

We never missed that special day to get a free buffet and a slice of cake; and we had to take note of these simple rules:

• Celebrants can eat for free ON THE DAY of their birthday on both lunch and dinner, as long as accompanied by ONE FULL PAYING ADULT.

• Celebrants can eat for free for ONE MONTH on both lunch and dinner per day, as long as it is within the month of his/her birthday and accompanied by FOUR FULL PAYING ADULTS.

• Celebrants must bring an ORIGINAL and VALID government issued picture I.D. with the birthdate imprinted on it, both local and foreign I.D.s are accepted, for proof (such as S.S.S., N.B.I., Driver’s License, Pag-Ibig, P.R.C., Barangay, Unified, Police Clearance I.D. and Passport). In case the celebrant doesn’t have a government issued picture I.D., he/she may bring his/her birth certificate supported by any picture I.D. (school I.D., parent’s I.D., company I.D.).

Upon entering Vikings SM Marikina, your eyes would joyfully wander at the sweet desserts and breads: cakes, pies, souffle, cupcakes, buns, bagels, donuts, ice cream, and halo-halo.

I am not a huge fan of red meat but the roasted Leg of Lamb at the Carving Station enticed me to try a few slices. From the savory taste of the lamb, I can tell that it was well marinated. I have smelled fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper. The meat was soft and tender that I had to chew slowly, pause and enjoy the gratifying taste.

The Italian section at Vikings offers pizza, pasta, and Risotto. It is a carbo load enriched food layout, and I had to admit that pasta is one of my weaknesses since I was a kid. So I tried the chicken carbonara, but it did not totally satisfy my appetite, because I was craving for Mommy's homemade pasta.

Thanks to Vikings for the free buffet, slice of cake, and birthday song ( and group dance number )! Thanks for keeping our hopes up that maybe this year or perhaps the next would be better.
